STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Common questions

If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather answer it now than have you find out later.

Do I own the camera footage?

Yes. Recordings are stored on equipment at your property that you own outright. There is no per-camera license fee and no monthly subscription required to view your own video — if you ever stopped working with us, the system keeps recording.

How many days of footage will I get?

That depends on how many cameras you have, their resolution, and whether they record continuously or on motion. We calculate it before you buy, so the recorder is sized to the retention you actually want rather than whatever the box happened to come with. Thirty days is a common target.

What does a managed plan actually include?

The core of it is verification: someone confirming your cameras are still recording, your storage has not filled up, and your network equipment is online and current. Higher tiers add scheduled on-site visits, lens cleaning and aim checks, waived trip charges, and faster response targets.

Do I need a managed plan?

No. Plenty of work is a straightforward install with no ongoing commitment, and service calls are available to anyone. Plans make sense when the system matters enough that you would rather find a failure on a scheduled check than on the day of an incident.

Do you monitor my cameras live?

No, and this is an important distinction. We are not an alarm company or a central monitoring station. We do not watch live video, receive alarm signals, or dispatch police or fire. What we do is make sure the system is healthy and recording. If you need live monitoring with dispatch, that is a licensed service and we will point you toward one.

Can you work with the cameras I already have?

Often, yes. Existing systems can sometimes be expanded, re-aimed, or brought back into working order for far less than a replacement. The site survey will tell us honestly which way is the better spend.

Can you record audio?

Technically yes, but audio recording carries legal requirements that video generally does not, including consent and notice obligations that fall on you as the property owner. We will talk through it before enabling any microphone, and we will not configure something we believe puts you on the wrong side of the law.

What about my Wi-Fi dead spots?

That is one of the most common calls we get. Dead spots are usually a placement and cabling problem rather than a hardware problem — adding a wired access point in the right place fixes what a bigger router never will.

What equipment do you install?

We primarily build on Ubiquiti UniFi for both networking and surveillance. It is well built, there are no per-camera licensing fees, and it holds up. If a job genuinely calls for something else, we will say so.

How does billing work?

Projects are quoted flat before work begins, with equipment and labor itemized separately. Managed plans are billed monthly. Service calls are billed at an hourly rate with a one hour minimum, plus travel where it applies. Invoices are net 30.

Do you charge for the site survey?

No. Walking the property, mapping coverage, and producing a written quote costs you nothing.

Are you insured?

Yes, and we will provide a certificate of insurance on request — commercial clients and public entities usually want one before work begins.

Tell us what needs covering.

Site surveys are free. We will walk the property, map the coverage, and put a flat quote in writing.
